- Aghast: struck with overwhelming shock; filled with sudden fright or horror.
E.g. “The police stood aghast at the terrible sight.”
- Petrified: extremely frightened that one is unable to move.

- Frantic: wild or distraught with fear, anxiety, or extreme emotion.
E.g. “He was quite frantic by the time we got home.”
- Timorous: full of fear.
E.g. “The victim talked with a timorous voice.”
- Edgy: tense, nervous, or irritable.
E.g. “I am feeling edgy about the exam tomorrow.”
