#IOTW: Idioms Using People’s Name

Aloha, fellas! How was your day? I hope your day was awesome.

Tonight, I’d like to share some idioms with people’s name on it. Stay tuned, fellas!

1. (as) Happy as Larry

to be extremely happy

Lisa is as happy as Larry to know that she gets a new pair of shoes.

2. Even-Steven

Fair and equal competition or distribution of resources.

Just buy me a drink and we’re even-steven.

3. Going Jesse

a successful project.

Jim’s so happy that his new album is going Jesse.

4. The Midas touch

The ability to make a lot of money.

Ann is a very successful businesswoman. She has the Midas touch.

5. Mrs. Grundy

Someone who think she/he is better than everyone else.

No one likes to work with Maria. She’s such a Mrs. Grundy.

6. Jekyll and Hyde

a person with two distinct personalities, one good, the other evil.

Emily’s surprised knowing that his boyfriend was a Jekyll and Hyde.

7. Doubting Thomas

Someone who will not believe in anything until he has seen it himself.

Believe me, Jack. Don’t be such a doubting Thomas.

8. Debby Downer

Someone who always has something negative and brings other’s happiness down.

Maria didn’t have any friend because she is such a Debby Downer.
