#WOTD: “Vice”

Hi, fellas! How’s your Idul Fitri preparation so far? :D

As for the admin, she is still trying to deny that she has menial chores to do :P (Menial chores = tugas rumah tangga)

Alright, let’s begin the session. Today we are going to discuss the word: Vice.

There are 2 meanings to the word “vice”: 1. Wakil, 2. Dosa, kekurangan, kelemahan, cacat karakter.

The first meaning is only used in the context of designation or title, e.g. Vice President.

As for the second meaning, it’s commonly used to describe a person’s weakness/flaw.

E.g. “Does he have any particular vice?” “Yes, he smokes heavily.”

Another ways to use ‘vice’: As a way to state “as a substitution for” in business documents.

E.g. “The letter was signed by John Smith, vice Jack Johns who was ill.”

Vice is also what this metal work tool is called. (Source: http://uktoolcentre.or.uk ) http://ow.ly/i/6mrz7
