#IOTW: Idioms of the week

  1. Once and for all. Arti: harus saya katakan dengan tegas & tidak akan saya ulang lagi.
    • Contoh:
      • Once and for all, finish your homework before going out.”
  2. Live up to. Arti: menepati; sesuai dengan.
    • Contoh:
      • “You have made your promise. Live up to it!”
  3. Had better. Arti: lebih baik.
    • Contoh:
      • “I had better (or I’d better) go home now, it is late.”
  4. Get to the bottom. Artinya: mengetahui penyebab sesungguhnya.
    • Contoh:
      • “We need to solve this problem. However, let’s get to the bottom of it first.”
  5. Look back. Artinya: menoleh kembali.
    • Contoh:
      • “Sometimes when we look back at our lives, we regret things we have done.”
  6. Run in the familyArtinya: mendarah daging dalam keluarga.
    • Contoh:
      • “The love of arts runs in his family.”
  7. Dead tired. Artinya: lelah sekali.
    • Contoh:
      • “I am dead tired, I don’t think I can do anymore housework.”
  8. Taken aback. Artinya: terkejut dan bingung.
    • Contoh:
      • “I was taken aback when I heard his voice from across the hall.”
  9. Skeleton in the closet Artinya: rahasia yang memalukan.
    • Contoh:
      • “Before you say things about other people, remember the skeleton in your closet.”
  10. Gear up forArtinya: bersiap-siap menghadapi.
    • Contoh:
      • “Let’s gear up for the next final test!”
