#EngClass: Simple Past Tense (negative and interrogative)

Yuk kita lanjut bahas kalimat (-) dan (?) Simple Past Tense. ‘Did’ dipakai saat menyusun kalimat (-) dan (?) Simple Past Tense.

Susunan kalimat (-) Simple Past Tense:

S + did + not + V1 + O/ adverb.

V2 kembali jadi V1. Contoh: I did not buy a new car last week.

Tips: “did not” bisa disingkat jadi “didn’t”.

Susunan kalimat (?) Simple Past Tense: 

Did + S + V1 + O/ Adv + ?

V2 kembali jadi V1. Contoh: Did you buy a new car last week?

Tips: dalam kalimat Simple Past Tense, kalau sudah ada “did”, verb yang digunakan adalah bentuk V1.

Let’s do some exercise. Turn (1), (2), (3) to negative Simple Past tense. And (4), (5), (6) to interrogative Simple Past Tense.

  1. I studied English and French a few days ago. (negative)
  2. You worked hard yesterday. (negative)
  3. She arrived at the airport a few minutes ago. (negative)
  4. He needed a new English dictionary a few days ago. (interrogative)
  5. They submitted the applications yesterday. (interrogative)
  6. I stayed at that hotel last month. (interrogative)

ANSWER
======

  1. I did not (didn’t) study English and French a few days ago.
  2. You did not (didn’t) work hard yesterday.
  3. She did not (didn’t) arrive at the airport a few minutes ago.
  4. Did he need a new English dictionary a few days ago?
  5. Did they submit the applications yesterday?
  6. Did you stay at that hotel last month?
